Based in the heart of the West Midlands, Black Country Living Museum is surrounded by history and heritage offering a fascinating insight into what it was like to live in the Black Country in years gone by, as well as being made famous as the film location for many scenes in Peaky Blinders.
There’s a fully interactive experience – including an Edwardian school lesson, traditional fairground, vintage bus rides, historic characters, an underground mine tour, plus over 40 period shops, houses and industrial areas to explore.
During November and December, the BCLM also provides lots of festive activities to enjoy, such as their sell out Santa Hunt, Victorian Christmas Nights and Craft Days – these are sadly all booked up for 2019 but set a reminder to book next year as these events are popular for a reason!
Visit on Wednesdays to Sundays and you can step back in time to discover their brand new immersive experience and take in the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas through time, from Victoria’s reign to the 1930s.
Plus, if you visit between 23rd November and 24th December you’ll get an Unchained Annual Pass for the same price as a regular ticket to return as many times as you like for 12 months.
There are Festive Fun Days to be booked in advance at their sister museum, The Locksmith’s House in Willenhall too.
BCLM is a full day out but if you have time don’t forget to factor in a visit to the Dudley Canal Trust next door, a narrowboat trip with a difference…
Hop on a purpose built narrowboat which sails into the deep caverns and tunnels beneath Dudley’s ‘Seven Sisters’ where a magical world has been created.
This year the theme is a Fairy Tale Christmas, featuring a mini pantomime inside the hidden caves and a visit from Santa where he presents a gift and speaks to each child on the boat.
Be prepared to wrap up warm and then look forward to the hot drink and mince pies available for every adult.
A gift shop and restaurant is available on site.
Tickets for these events are limited but there are still slots available to book online…
For a very traditional treat why not book Carols in the Caverns for an intimate and uplifting musical tour through the caverns from the local choir. Warm up your vocal chords and join in to really get into the Christmas spirit!
